Hear from the CEO behind the region’s biggest tech exit in the web 2.0 era

Michael Rubin is keynoting the IMPACT venture capital conference next Tuesday. Plus: IMPACT's male-to-female speaker ratio isn't as bad as last year's.

Michael Rubin is keynoting IMPACT 2015, PACT’s annual venture capital conference, and we’re really excited.
Rubin sold his company, GSI Commerce, to eBay for $2.4 billion in 2011, making it the biggest Philly-area tech business acquisition in the last 15 years. The sale placed him among the country’s wealthiest. You don’t see Rubin on the Philly tech scene circuit, so that’s part of the appeal here. GSI Commerce, which became eBay Enterprise post-sale, was sold for a reported $900 million to a private equity firm this summer.
Rubin, who now runs a family of consumer businesses under the umbrella of Kynetic, is speaking on the first day of the two-day conference: Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 4:30 at the Ritz-Carlton in Center City.
Tickets start at $200 for entrepreneurs.

IMPACT did a better job of booking a gender diverse speaker lineup this year. Last year, before we reported on it, they had only booked two women speakers out of nearly 40.
This year, out of 50 speakers, 10 are women, including, full disclosure, this reporter, who’s moderating a panel on “the next generation” of investors in Philadelphia.
Let’s hope that number continues to rise.
