Check out CRUX, a new art gallery focused on tech and digital media

Founder Andrew Cameron Zahn says CRUX is the first of its kind in Philadelphia.

Philly now has its own art gallery focused on tech and new media.

Launched by Andrew Cameron Zahn, CRUX is a 500-square-foot space in the tiny neighborhood of Ludlow (near Girard Avenue, wedged between Olde Kensington and the also small Yorktown). The gallery also has a 1,000-square-foot outdoor area that Zahn hopes to transform into a creative space after he raises money.

Visit CRUX (at 700 W. Master St.) for its opening on First Friday, October 3, 6-10 p.m.

The opening will be curated by Katherine Bennett of UArts and feature work by Lauren McCarthy, Ashley John Pigford, Andrew Tomasulo, and Katherine Bennett.

Zahn, who’s been organizing arts tech events like art exhibit Hack 2.0, said he felt like Philly was lacking a space that focused on new media and technology. CRUX will be a gallery, but it’ll also be an education space that offers workshops and studio space, he said in an email.

Zahn runs design company Studio Zahn and teaches at UArts and Jefferson University.
