ImPatient, a crowdfunding platform for biotech projects, won Lehigh Valley’s second annual Startup Weekend, a 54-hour challenge to build a startup.
This was part of a Global Startup Battle, which Delaware also joined.

First Place – ImPatient: Rosamond Deegan pitched a crowdfunding platform that would allow donors to fund biotechnology projects that could cure rare diseases, preventing these projects from being shelved because of lack of capital.
Second Place – StablePro: Lehigh University student Zachary Rambo, an extreme sports enthusiast, prototyped a device that would stabilize a video camera, like the GoPro™ camera, allowing better action video to be captured. Rambo built the prototype using a 3D printer, a laser cutter and an Arduino microcontroller.
Third Place – TherMOMitor: Ben Cohen’s team built a device that would actively monitor body temperature using an armband-type apparatus. Their target market included parents wanting to actively monitor a sick child’s temperature and the fertility market where women monitor their body temperature to determine when they are ovulating.
