MyClin: clinical trial software company expands to new Old City office

Old City startup MyClin wants to make running clinical trials effortless. (We’re talking about the studies that researchers conduct to test drugs or medical devices on humans before they go to market.)

MyClin’s software aims to facilitate communication between all the moving parts of a clinical trial. With its online platform, those running clinical trials can share documents, conduct surveys and store important information. And the bootstrapped company has gained some traction: it has half a dozen clients, said founder James Denmark, and its software has been used in two dozen clinical trials.

MyClin recently moved from Old City coworking spot Indy Hall to its own office around the corner at 118 Church Street near N3rd Street. The move was to accommodate company growth as well as to “be seen as a legitimate vendor,” Denmark said, since its client base is moving toward more “mainstream, conservative bio-pharma companies.”

Denmark, 42, spent more than two decades working in clinical trial services industry before he founded MyClin in 2008. He lives in Bucks County but said he opened up shop in Philly because of Indy Hall.

“I […] brought the company into Philly against the advice of my accountant to gain access to the vibrant community I found at Indy Hall,” he wrote in an email.
