“Twenty-two companies in the Philadelphia region received venture funding of $142 million in the first quarter of the year, according to a MoneyTree Report. The region ranked 10th nationally, and got a 2.46 percent share of the total venture funding nationwide.

Software and biotech companies were the venture favorites, accounting for a combined 89 percent of the total funding in the region. In software, 11 firms received $78 million in venture funding; and four biotech firms got $48 million.” [Citybizlist]

It’s been a solid first quarter for technology companies in the Philadelphia region according to a new MoneyTree Report produced by Pricewaterhouse Coopers and the National Venture Capital Association, as Citybizlist reports.
