Since its inception in 2010, Philly-based TechGirlz has introduced thousands of middle-school girls to careers in STEM.

This weekend, as the nonprofit hits the nice, round number of 10,000 girls participating in its TechShopz program, the group will celebrate with a blitz of free workshops across nine states.

In Philly, two simultaneous workshops will take place on Saturday: “Make an Animated Bracelet with micro:bit” at Saxbys’ HQ and “Scratch and Raspberry Pi Workshop” at the offices of Bresslergroup.

“This is a celebration of the whole community,” said founder Tracey Welson-Rossman, who’s also chief marketing officer at Fort Washington, Pa.-based Chariot Solutions. “We could not be here without the dev community that’s been so supportive of our work. We’re so excited to be able to share this with our volunteers.”

The celebration will be broadcast live on TechGirlz’s Facebook page at 12 p.m., as participants celebrate with cake, party decorations and commemorative T-shirts.

In 2016, the organization hit global status with the org’s TechShopz in a Box program reaching as far as Paraguay, Belgium and Canada.
