Walnut St. Labs’ mission is to be a catalyst for innovation in Chester County and Southeastern Pennsylvania by providing coworking, a crazy-full events calendar and a technology incubator. We take great pride in providing a “clubhouse” that cultivates a community of creative, tech and business folks from across our region. Every. Single. Week.
Now, we’re adding two more things to the mix: corporate partnerships and competitions.
We’re excited to partner with information technology giant Unisys to hold a “no code” prototyping competition. That means you don’t have to know how to code to participate. The event will be held at Walnut St. Labs over the next five weeks. The grand prize? $4,000!
RSVP
The event begins on April 15 with a launch party, where interested folks can come and learn more details, make teams, meet Unisys engineers and win cool prizes.
Here are four great reasons to join us:
1. No Coding Required
You don’t have to be a developer. Actually, you don’t have to be a designer. If you’re an outside-the-box thinker, you are who we’re looking for.
2. Crash Course In Innovation
Participants will get exposure to eight micro-courses — including agile development, design thinking and rapid prototyping — each designed to help you access the creativity Unisys uses when developing a new UI for a product.
We also see a new wave of ideas from innovation labs like Walnut St. Labs, and we want to be a part of that.
3. Oh, The People You’ll Meet
You’re going to meet lots of people. Collaborate with some, compete against others. We’ve always got lots of interesting people moving through our space. But during this series, our halls will be bursting with tech scenesters.
4. Step Into Innovation
Lots of people think innovation happens in startups. But companies like Unisys have been around for a long time. Unisys was founded 142 years ago. You can’t last that long without innovating on a regular basis. That’s what’s exciting to us at Walnut St. Labs. Good partnerships create a multiplier effect. The team at Unisys gets that.
“Unisys has a long, proud history of innovation,” said Unisys Vice President of Engineering and Supply Chain Jim Thompson. “We also see a new wave of ideas from innovation labs like Walnut St. Labs, and we want to be a part of that. By combining Unisys’ tradition of innovation with the capabilities of Walnut St. Labs, we can have the best of both worlds.”
We agree with him. And we want you to join us. Don’t just stand there. Come in!
Walnut St. Labs is located in the heart of West Chester, Pa. For more information on the Unisys/WSL prototyping event and our weekly events calendar, check out our site.
