Interested in new frontiers in gaming? Check out Brain Jam, hosted by Brooklyn Gamery, this weekend.
“The brain is unimaginably complex and incredibly powerful,” the event page says. “Sometimes, it can be tough to live with! Anxiety, depression and other conditions can make life difficult, no matter one’s circumstances. However, treatments like therapy, medication, meditation and exercise can help a great deal. We’d like to talk about this in the medium of games!”
Brain Jam kicks off Friday night at 6:30 at NYU Magnet and continues through the weekend. It’s free.

We profiled Catt Small, one of the founding members of Brooklyn Gamery, earlier this year. The grad student/Brooklyn Gamery founder/Code Liberation honcho explained her interests in the game scene.
“I want to explore interactivity and find new ways to make interesting kinds of games,” she said. “How we can use games to convey experiences … like how it feels when someone’s dancing. So you’re actually making music with your hands and feet. I’m working on a couple other [games] that are about the human experience, race and gender, and microagressions. I do all kinds of fun stuff!”
