In this time of social distancing, we’re more dependent on our devices than ever, for work, socializing and, of course, the 24/7 stream of crisis updates on Twitter.
My quarantine routine:
11:00 pm: open Twitter
11:01 pm: close Twitter
11:02 pm: stare at the ceiling thinking about what I’m about to do next
11:03 pm: open Twitter— Surya Veeravalli (@Suryav3199) March 21, 2020
If you find yourself obsessing a little too much on the latter, there’s some good news: You can play video games instead, and literally no one is going to give you a hard time because you’re practicing good social distancing.
Delaware has a handful of gaming companies, bolstered by the Game Design bachelor’s program at Wilmington University. Here are a few to try while easing up on your Twitter routine:
Drive to Hell (Ghost Crab Games)
Available for Android, iOs, Mac and PC, Drive to Hell is Ghost Crab Games’ top down shooter. Concept: The Demon King has destroyed your favorite dive bar, and you drive through an army of monsters in revenge. It allows up to four players co-op multiplayer.
In development: Hastilude
Haberdashery (Luna Wolf Studios)
Available for Android, iOS, Mac and PC, Haberdashery is a fast-paced, endless runner where the goal is to avoid rocks, trees, spike pits, and mines, while collecting all your treasures while avoiding becoming dragon.
In development: ParaLily
Lucid Awakening II (Momiji Studios)
Available on Steam, this fantasy sequel to Lucid Awakening I (available on the Momiji Studios website) has a complex story about worlds ending and being reborn.
Also available from Momiji on Andriod and iOS: Sojourn: The Modern Journal, for digital journaling social media-style, without the social media.
