The Delaware Division of the Arts faced a $70,000 cut in arts funding this year — and that’s considered a victory for arts advocates. The 2.5 percent cut is a fraction of what advocates feared.
So, while it’s true there are fewer state funds for artists and arts organizations next year, there’s still funding to go around, including a grant program for young, established nonprofit arts startups.
The DDA describes its StartUp Program (STU) as a “comprehensive program of financial support, training, and consultation to develop and strengthen the management capacity of emerging arts organizations so that they can operate in a sustainable manner.” It includes operating support funds of up to $2,500.
Once the STU is completed, the emerging organization will be eligible to apply for annual General Operating Support (GOS) grants.
Applications open Dec. 1, with a letter of intent due by Jan. 15.
Grant applications are also open for schools, CBOs and individual artists.
