A little over a year ago, we made the case for why Girl Develop It should come to Wilmington. A month later, it did, and it set up shop in 1313 Innovation. Now a little over a year later, Girl Develop it Wilmington is celebrating its one-year anniversary. There’s a#GDIWilmTurns1 party later this month and you’re invited.
On Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m., “nerdettes” will gather to celebrate at 1313 Innovation.
The group has grown to 500 members and has hosted roughly 25 meetups, it’s no secret that it’s been a good year for inspiring women to get into web development. GDI Wilmington has offered a forum for people like Dany Bourjolly Smith and Gillian Reynolds to cross paths, it also gave women the courage to transition into tech by sharing stories of women who have crossed over.
“I’m still in awe of the incredible community we’ve been able to develop,” said GDI Wilmington co-lead Megan Anthony. “What’s been the most rewarding is meeting so many supportive and intelligent women who are looking to improve themselves and help each other.”
There will be food, there will be drinks, there will also be retrospective heartfelt exchanges of memories from this past year. Students will be back to talk about what they learned. RSVP below.
