Winner of Rep. Carney’s app challenge to be named at Feb. 18 Tech Meetup

Remember the app challenge from Rep. John Carney (D-Del.) for high school students? (To recap, he invited Delaware teens to submit apps they’ve developed, and the winning one will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives’ website and in a U.S. Capitol exhibit.)
The time has come for him to announce a winner, and that’ll happen at next week’s Delaware Tech Meetup, Feb. 18 at the coIN Loft.

Rep. Carney’s office received 13 applications from 17 students (there was a team of four on one project), said Albert Shields, a Carney spokesman. He said all students involved have been invited, and some of the pitch videos they had to submit will be shown at the meetup.
A panel of judges chose the winning app based on a number of criteria, Shields said, including the quality of the idea and its implementation, and the technical background of their creation. They’ve been invited to the meetup as well.

• Dana Rohrbough, Delaware Department of State
• Rick Sommer, president, Intellitec Solutions
