State lawmaker Bryon Short is running for US Congress

State Rep. Bryon Short (D-Highland Woods) has just announced he will be running to fill the seat of U.S. Rep. John Carney (D-Del.), now in the throes of a gubernatorial race.
Short, a small-business owner who chairs the House Economic Development Committee, recently sponsored the four-bill internet privacy and safety package passed by Gov. Jack Markell last month.
Short is greenlighting his statewide tour today, stopping first to stump at 1313 Innovation in Wilmington (more on that later), where he met with local entrepreneurs.
“With your voice and your support we can work toward building a future where the middle class thrives again,” Short wrote in an email release. “A future where our education system serves its students. A future where my girls are paid the same as their male counterparts. A future full of promise and opportunity. A future where Washington once again, works for the people.”
Short will be running against State Sen. Bryan Townsend (D-Newark), a transparency reformer with whom he cosponsored the internet safety bill package.
