Philly-born goPuff now delivers booze in DC

Philly-based on-demand delivery service goPuff has added beer, wine and liquor to its D.C. delivery repertoire — the category is called goBooze.
GoPuff originally launched in D.C. as its third city back in November 2014. Back then the company was primarily known for delivering snacks and smoking paraphernalia, but had just branched in to some household goods. Today, goPuff’s repertoire includes everything from vanilla soy milk (in the category “goFresh”) to pints of Talenti gelato (category “I Scream”) to a seven-piece cookware set (category “Homey”).

While goPuff deliveries in other categories are available Monday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4:30 a.m, goBooze is only available during those days from noon to 11:15 p.m.
GoPuff raised $3.25 million back in December, and is expanding quickly. Our sister site Technical.ly Philly reported just last month that the service currently operates in six cities, but since then then goPuff has expanded to two more cities bringing the total to eight.
The company is far from the only on-demand delivery service in the D.C. market. It’s also far from the only delivery option in the alcohol space in this city, where we have options like Drizly and Ultra and Klink.
Still, by all indications, cofounder Rafael Ilishayev is confident that goPuff’s fast and cheap delivery (within 30 minutes, for a $1.95 delivery fee) makes it competitive.
