It’ll be like being carded on the internet. But to get nice things.
With the acquisition of student discount website PerklaID.me will expand its user base among students, who can register for a certified account for free.
“Students are tomorrow’s affluent shoppers, and we’re looking forward to helping brands form lifelong connections with the student community,” said ID.me CEO Blake Hall in a release.
ID.me vets customers so they can access deals online. It started out as TroopSwap, an online deals site for veterans. We profiled ID.me just yesterday.
Like Perkla, which was founded by classmates at Columbia Business School, ID.me was jumpstarted in the hallowed halls of a learning institution. Hall and ID.me COO Matthew Thompson brainstormed TroopSwap when studying together at Harvard Business School.
After servicing veterans and various targeted groups, ID.me recently launched for the general public.
