Projects funded by Kickstarter this past year included replacing every ad in a London subway station with a picture of a cat, turned a bowling alley into a haunted house, as well as De La Soul’s first album in 14 years, which went to No. 1 on the charts.
Kickstarter also expanded to Singapore, Mexico and Hong Kong.
The Greenpoint company also noted that the London Design Museum added six projects funded by Kickstarter to its permanent collection.
Here at home, one of the biggest Kickstarter projects of the year was Margarita Noriega’s Internet Review, a book of essays about the internet. The campaign crushed its goal in just 24 hours, and went on to raise more than $14,000, four times its original goal.
