Want to know what’s going on in the world of media technology? This Wednesday the Made in NY Media Center will showcase this quarter’s batch of startups it helped incubate, at its Demo Day.
More than 100 projects have come out of the Made in NY Pitch competition and Demo Day program, which offers founders $5,000, expert mentorship and free coworking space. The recipients typically include different types of media, virtual reality, games and filmmaking, for instance.

In November, we reported on that fall’s batch of recipients, which included Empathetic Media, a startup which attempts to recreate the scenes of news events in virtual reality. Another interesting one was Kitsplit, which brings the sharing economy to video projects. With Kitsplit, you can rent a professional video or VR kit for as little as $600/day.
After this quarter’s demos are complete, the Made in NY Media Center will host its Demo Day Marketplace, “a casual trade show of 40 exhibiting companies presenting solutions to many unsolved challenges.”
