Makeshift Society wraps up Kickstarter // Makers Row does Furniture [Startup Roundup]

New services at Makers Row and comedy-startup crossover by way of Baratunde Thurston, plus more.

Who’s getting money?

MakeShift Society is on Kickstarter. The tool library project is still a few grand shy and closes tomorrow.

Who’s making moves?

Makers Row, the company helping American makers get their creations made domestically, has expanded into furniture. The company launched focused on clothes and textiles, but they have moved into a whole new area of manufacturing. We wrote about their appearance at a major fashion industry conference.

Who’s getting buzz?

Tinybop’s first app, which we covered, was featured in the promo for the new Ipad Air.

HICKIES makes elastic bands that allow consumers to take the laces out of shoes and turn them into slip-ons. Cofounded by a couple, one of them, Mariquel Waingarten, wrote a column about how to make a startup work within a relationship, on Entrepreneur.

Baratunde Thurston, was on WTF Pod with Marc Maron. The CEO of Cultivated Wit doesn’t say a lot about his tech venture to Maron, other than to say they have some really awesome apps coming soon. We listed him on the Brooklynites in tech to watch out for post that followed up on The Next Web‘s list.
