Martin O’Malley to host civic tech pitch event

If you're part of a civic tech startup you can apply to participate in the Oct. 21 event.

Governor Martin O'Malley at a Pitch Across Maryland event in September 2012.

Are you working on a civic tech startup? Or perhaps you’re a tech and politics enthusiast in equal measure? On Oct. 21 former Maryland governor, and current presidential candidate, Martin O’Malley will be hosting a civic tech pitch competition in D.C.
The event is aimed at exploring “how innovation & technology can solve our country’s greatest challenges,” event organizers say.
This comes after O’Malley hosted a similar event in San Francisco in September. Apparently O’Malley is really into civic tech and supporting innovation — recall his creation of InvestMaryland while he was the state’s governor.
The event will be held at the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center. If you’re part of a civic tech startup you can still apply for a spot in the pitch contest.
