Horn serves as the creative engine for entrepreneurship education and advancement at the University of Delaware. Horn offers a broad array of courses and degree programs, student experience programs and new venture development opportunities. Horn is also a principal driver of the University’s commercialization programs, including its efforts to accelerate research translation. As a result of its broad programming scope, Horn engages with 3000+ high school students and 1750+ undergraduate students from more than 100 different majors each year. Horn also engages with dozens of graduate students, postdocs and faculty from across the University as well as many entrepreneurs within the mid-Atlantic region.
To catalyze innovation within the region, Horn Entrepreneurship partnered with Delaware State University and Delaware Technical Community College to form the Coalition for Translational Entrepreneurship (CTE). The Coalition aims to increase the number and velocity of inventions successfully translated from university and industry labs into the marketplace by providing high impact training opportunities for STEM innovators and unique launch preparation and team building services to tech-based startups. CTE’s primary offering — the Innovation Delaware Fellowship Program (InDE) — is a nine-month program with sessions emphasizing the development of critical knowledge, skillsets and connections for successfully bringing new science and tech-based products to market through licensing, open innovation and startups.
