Jared Council is a program manager for The Lenfest Institute’s Philadelphia Programs. He primarily works on Every Voice, Every Vote, a coalition of media organizations and community groups focused on advancing civic information and engagement in Philadelphia. His role includes covering happenings within the EVEV ecosystem, but don’t be surprised if you catch his byline on original stories related to civics in Philly.
Jared previously led editorial initiatives at For(bes) The Culture, a Forbes community of Black founders, professionals, and creators. He was also part of The Wall Street Journal team recognized as 2022 Pulitzer Prize finalists for coverage of the 1921 Tulsa Massacre. He has been a guest lecturer or speaker at schools including Hampton University and Harvard University, with a focus on journalism and the racial wealth gap. When his PRESS badge is off, you might find him on a piano with his two boys, watching sports, or playing math videos at 2x speed on YouTube.
