As you might have guessed, the first set of words was pulled from the Republican lexicon, while the second is a list of common Democratic leitmotivs.
Quorum Analytics, a startup that uses numbers to make sense of the inner workings of Capitol Hill, went a step further in mapping the vocabulary of each party.
The downtown D.C.-based firm drew up the lists of the most typical words pronounced by Senators and House Representatives in floor speeches.
Quorum cofounder Jonathan Marks told the National Journal that “about 80 percent of the variation in the difference between what representatives say in Congress can be explained by party affiliation.”
