Coded by Kids founder Sylvester Mobley started things by teaching one student in the Marian Anderson Rec Center how to code. It was the fall of 2013.
Fast forward to three years later and Mobley is hosting the organization’s third birthday party, receiving a citation from City Council and planning an expansion of the nonprofit’s programs to 12 new sites across Philly.

But to reach its expansion target, Coded by Kids is going to need a little help by way of an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign that aims to raise $53,130.
That figure, the organization explains, will take their current weekly reach of 90-100 students up to 300.
“We’re ready to take on more programs,” said Operations Manager Maggie Deptola. “We have the infrastructure in place to run more programs and we want to run more programs.”
