The two Brooklyn-connected candidates of the Democratic party will talk about the last show they saw and their favorite bars on Bedford Avenue next Thursday night in a debate at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Just kidding! They’ll talk about policy and rights and war and so forth, probably.
Flatbush’s Bernie Sanders, a self-described turnstile-jumper, will take on Downtown Brooklyn’s Hillary Clinton on April 14, just five days before New York’s primary, CNN reported this week.
Clinton, who represented the state of New York in the U. S. Senate for eight years before being chosen by President Obama to be Secretary of State, is leading Sanders in polls by 11 points.
The debate, which will be moderated by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and will take place at the Duggal Greenhouse, represents a win for the Navy Yard, which is undergoing a huge expansion and modernization.
The Duggal Greenhouse is an events space on the water at the Navy Yard. It is, according to itself, “Perfectly situated, expertly managed, and ready to host your most important event. Guests may arrive by ground transportation or yacht and dock steps from the Duggal Greenhouse and its private waterfront patio. The Greenhouse is a laboratory in new technology, utilizing solar energy, organic air purification and eco friendly building practices.”
