Chief Innovation Officer Adel Ebeid is out at City Hall

Adel Ebeid, the city’s first Chief Innovation Officer, will leave City Hall as Mayor Nutter’s term ends, according to a press release.
No word yet from Mayor-elect Kenney’s camp on who will replace him. We’ve reached out to Kenney spokeswoman Lauren Hitt for an update.
Ebeid, 51, will join Arlington, Va.-based sustainability company Green Diamond Solutions as its president for innovation and technology, but he’ll remain in Philadelphia.

“My wife and I planted roots here 4 years ago and we have every intention of staying and continuing to enjoy Philly,” he wrote to us.
In a statement, he said, “I feel extremely proud of what the team has been able to accomplish over the last four years. From day one, we focused on building an organization that can sustain change in the future and I’m proud to leave behind a team who will continue to drive the technology modernization agenda. I know the next administration values the strategic role technology can play in government and wish them all the success.”
Ebeid joined the city in 2011, after Nutter and managing director Rich Negrin convinced him to leave the State of New Jersey, where he was CTO, for Philadelphia. (Negrin also stepped down this month.)
He oversaw many banner initiatives of the Nutter administration, including the implementation of Nutter’s open data executive order, a $120 million IT upgrade and most recently, the Comcast franchise negotiation, where he had the heroic job of lead negotiator on the city side.
