Hive76 is closed for now.
After a small electrical fire, the city’s Department of Licenses & Inspections shut down 915 Spring Garden St., the building where the hackerspace lives, due to fire code violations late last week.
Hive76 canceled its weekly open house because of the shutdown.
It’s not clear when the building will re-open.
Meanwhile, the group is gearing up for its annual trip to the NYC Maker Faire, where Hive76 hackers will have a 20-by-20-foot tent at the front entrance, said spokesman Chris Terrell. The outfit also recently bought a full-spectrum laser cutter, which member Chris Thompson has been using to make his signature beef-jerky business cards.
