The northward migration continues.
Not long after one design agency left their offices at the Piazza complex in Northern Liberties for bigger, industrial space on Frankford Avenue in Fishtown, Bluecadet Interactive has followed suit with a new 6,000 square foot HQ.
“Mostly, we needed more space for our growing team and for prototyping our interactive installations.” said Bluecadet studio director Rebecca Sherman. The company currently has 20 employees.
The new space offers the agency a semi-open floor plan with natural light, reclaimed wood furniture from Provenance Architecturals, a patio, library, conference rooms, showers, and a 2,400-square foot production studio.
“The production studio is key for us” said Sherman.
The production studio will be used to test out the agency’s latest installations. The company is currently working on a 15 foot touch wall as well as a 20 foot projection that is controlled via Xbox Kinect.
Bluecadet also has many other projects under development, including the following:
- a mobile app targeted towards kids for the JFL Library in Boston
- several large touchscreens for the Penn Museum’s upcoming Native American Voices exhibition
- and several interactive pieces for the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s upcoming Treasures from Korea exhibition.
Bluecadet will be hosting an opening party to celebrate their new office on Jan. 24th at 7 pm. Info and how to RSVP can be found here.
