March in Austin may seem a ways off, but D.C. is ready to get the South by Southwest ball rolling.
As with 2016, the Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) and Fosterly are teaming up to lead a cohort of WeDC Ambassadors to the festival. These ambassadors will “engaging with leaders and influencers from around the world on behalf of our creative community” and “contribute an element of authenticity to DC’s presence at SXSW,” officials say.
Before all this can happen, though, the partners need to select ambassadors. And in order to do this Fosterly is currently accepting nominations — know a leader in tech, culture or business who should represent the D.C. brand this spring? Now’s your chance to throw a name (or two or three) in the mix.
“You may nominate someone you know personally or simply someone from our community whom you admire,” the nomination form indicates. It does not spell out how many ambassadors will be chosen from the nominations, but last year there were nine.
Already know you’ll be attending SXSW? Fosterly is keeping track of #dctech companies and individuals that will be present — add yourself to this Google Doc.
