The Herndon-based Children’s Science Center is a pop-up museum no more.
The organization, which had been bringing STEM activities for children at schools and festivals, opened a brick-and-mortar museum in the Fair Oaks Mall this week.
The Children’s Science Center Lab will be centered around four zones of activity for kids between two and 12: an experiment bar, an inspiration hub, a tinker shop and a discovery zone.
“After many years of being a museum without walls, we are thrilled to make such experiences possible every day,” Children’s Science Center Executive Director Nene Spivy said in a press release.
The center should appeal to kids: they helped conceive it. Children Science Center hosted design sessions with children to develop the lab in the spirit of the “For Kids, By Kids” approach.
