Mobile app ‘Text.’ wants to be your answer to group messaging

Built in three hours at Indy Hall's Side Project Saturday event, the app is built to be "faster & more light-weight" than existing options.

Spotty group messaging got you down? A mobile app called Text. wants to help.

Built by Old City-based developer Clay Zug, Text. bills itself as a simple messaging app that lets you message all your friends (who have Text.) at once.

Zug, 30, built the app in three hours at Indy Hall’s Side Project Saturday event. It came out of frustration, he said, because he and his friends would jump out of multiple apps to message each other.

When asked why someone should use Text. instead of one of the many messaging apps out there like Viber or WhatsApp, Zug wrote in an email, “Text is faster & more light-weight.”

He added: “From one place you can Text all your friends at once, a group of people & DM one person. Plus no texting data is ever saved to a database. All messages are sent and received through notifications. ”
