Pa. moves to require candidates to file campaign finance reports online

Candidates in Philadelphia are required by law to file reports on campaign expenses and contributions online, but that’s not the case for the rest of the state.

That may change, Newsworks reported, as the State Senate approved a bill to require online reporting. The House will consider the bill next.

Currently, all the data that’s filed on paper reports gets inputted manually by a contractor. That means that it can take more than a month for the data to get onto the state’s searchable database, Newsworks reported.
