Socialie: marketing startup lets brands feed tweets to fans

Don't waste time emailing people, asking them to tweet about your event or your product.

Don’t waste time emailing people. Instead, ask them to tweet about your event or your product. That’s the idea behind Socialie, a new Center City startup that lets users feed tweets to their fans.

The user types in a promotional tweet (like, “Try the new sandwich at Old Nelson!”), chooses fans in their “network” to send it to and those fans get a text asking them to OK the tweet. When they do, it gets tweeted directly from their account.

Socialie was founded by Kristin Adams, who grew up outside of Philadelphia and previously worked in social media at the Las Vegas-based Ultimate Fighting Championship. Adams, 30, lives in Center City and said she returned to Philly to build Socialie to be close to family and to be part of the growing startup scene, which she had been watching from afar. She works out of coworking space Benjamin’s Desk.
