Spotify created a music map for every city. Here’s what Brooklyn listens to

What’s the sound of Brooklyn? According to Spotify, at least, it’s Bonx-born A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, A Tribe Called Quest and Solange.
That’s according to a new map from the music streaming company that analyzes music distinctive to cities all over the world. Called Musical Map of the World 2.0, it debuted on Product Hunt yesterday. It doesn’t include the Chainsmokers because they’re popular, well, everywhere.
“Hear music distinctive to that city — songs that are enjoyed there disproportionately a lot relative to in other places,” Spotify explains of the map. “It’s a great way to understand the musical character of well over a thousand cities worldwide.”

Indeed, scrolling around, we see that Philadelphia native Meek Mill is popular in Philly, that in Indianapolis Miranda Lambert is big, and that down in Atlanta, Migos and Jeezy dominate.
It’s a very neat tool and it isn’t limited to the United States. You can check out what people are listening to in Mexico and Canada but also in South America, Europe and Australia.
