Three Brooklyn high school students have won the Congressional App Challenge, the organization reported on Wednesday.
Carlos Mayer, who developed an app called FRWD, won from NY-08, which covers much of East New York, Bedford-Stuyvesent and Fort Greene.

Sharon Lin, and her app iVOTE, won from NY-10, which includes Borough Park, Dyker Heights and the west side of Manhattan.

Robert Avenoso, with app SlyaOs, won from NY-11, which is mostly Staten Island but also includes Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst.

The Congressional App Challenge is a national competition for high school students to encourage them to learn coding skills. All three of Brooklyn’s winners will be invited down to Washington, D.C. this April for a reception where they’ll meet winners from other congressional districts and showcase their apps to the members of Congress. Their work will be on permanent display for the next year in the U.S. Capitol Building and on the House.gov website.
