This weekend: Learn how to program an Arduino

Aside from having a cool lil name, Arduinos can do cool lil stuff; and after this workshop at NYC Resistor, you’ll be able to make your Arduino do cool lil stuff, too.
Recent Arduino-involved projects include Backyard Brains’ Arduino Shield, which lets you see the electricity that runs through your muscles, and the famous True Love Tinder Bot, which makes Tinder swipes for you based on how sweaty your hands get upon looking at someone’s picture.
The class, an introduction to Arduinos, will cover:

• What is Arduino?
• Software setup
• Reading schematics and Fritzing (wiring) diagrams
• Basics of breadboarding
• Blinking an LED
• Reading sensor input (with a light sensor)
• Controlling output (with a simple motor)
• Combining input and output, making the motor move in response to light

According to the program, “Basic programming experience (familiarity with variables and loops) is assumed. No previous experience with hardware, circuits, or electrical engineering is expected.”

The workshop will take place Sunday, June 12 at NYC Resistor in Downtown Brooklyn. Tickets are $110 and include the Arduino and electronics set.
