Brooklyn bid for Democratic National Convention seeks social media support

The push to get the Democratic Party’s National Convention to come to Brooklyn is in its final days. We got an email from the Barclays Center about the effort, which obviously stands to gain hugely in revenue and profile if the Democrats come here to announce their presidential candidate for 2016.

New York City is going up against Philadelphia and Columbus, Ohio, both of which are in swing states.

That said, New York has a $15 million war chest so far, according to Capital New York. If the convention were to happen in Brooklyn, it would be the first party convention in New York City to be held outside of Manhattan.

There’s a website up now where you can lend your name to the effort.

To go the extra mile, Terence Kelly, head of community affairs at the Barclays Center, suggested voicing support on social media. “SHARE your support with @TheDemocrats @DemConvention @DWStweets using the hashtag #DNCNYC,” he wrote.
