HEVO Power builds wireless recharging pads for commercial vehicles

HEVO Power is close to deploying wireless recharging stations for commercial fleets with electric vehicles later this year. The company is based out of Downtown’s Urban Future Lab.

Wireless recharging has several advantages for commercial fleet operators, including circumventing one point of user error, drivers that forget to plug in their vehicle at the end of their shift. Soon, the technology will begin to reach consumer facing parking lots, according to The Daily News:

The startup company, which is a member of the New York City Accelerator for a Clean and Resilient Economy, is preparing pilot projects for its technology for the first time this spring by creating almost a dozen green loading zones for commercial trucks across the country.

“We designed the technology specifically to meet the needs of commercial fleets, so these are guys like Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Coca-Cola and Walgreens,” says Steve Monks, chief operating officer and co-founder of HEVO Power.
