With Thanksgiving coming up, you may feel inclined to duck away from the lively familial conversation and start swiping. You’re not alone.
Tinder data published in the Detroit News indicates that use of the app goes up over Thanksgiving. Last year, Baltimore swipes were up 37 percent from Nov. 25-29 on the online dating app. That was good for fifth-best of all U.S. cities.

In case you were wondering why, Tinder employs a sociologist who can explain this phenomenon.
“Individuals who grow up in the same areas are more likely to have shared experiences, making home a great place for singles with similar values to connect,” Dr. Jess Carbino told the Detriot News.
There were more going right in Baltimore, too. Charm City was apparently the number one city for matches (both parties swiping right) during last year’s Thanksgiving weekend, though it’s not specified how many matches earned Baltimore that distinction.
