MD ranks 1st in entrepreneurship, 2nd in STEM job concentration [REPORT]

The "Enterprising States" report measures states against five policy areas important for job growth.

Maryland is 2nd in the nation in STEM job concentration, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

As it did in 2012, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has ranked Maryland number one in the nation in terms of innovation and entrepreneurship in its fourth annual “Enterprising States” report.

In addition to Maryland’s number one ranking in innovation, the state was also ranked number two in overall STEM job concentration.
The “Enterprising States” report “measures state performance overall and across five policy areas important for job growth and economic prosperity,” according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce report website. Those five areas are:

  • Exports and international trade
  • Entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Business climate
  • Talent pipeline
  • Infrastructure
