CitiWatch: Baltimore’s 600 surveillance cameras draw Philly city council visit

Those familiar with Charm City’s CitiWatch camera surveillance program know Baltimore’s got cameras on cameras watching the streets.
More than 600 cameras, in fact, monitor several neighborhoods through the city, as Technically Baltimore reported in November. [Insert outcry about civil liberties violations here.]
Well, it turns out Philadelphia’s city council members are mighty interested in Baltimore’s CitiWatch system — one that is purportedly second only to the camera surveillance system employed in the United Kingdom — and visited the CitiWatch monitoring center Jan. 17 to have a look for themselves.
