Three women who made names for themselves getting laughs on YouTube have teamed up to make their first movie together, Camp Takota.
It sounds a little like Wet Hot American Summer meets The Blues Brothers meets An American Werewolf in London. In it, the main character’s financial humiliations force her to take a job at her old summer camp, where she finds two people she knew there as a kid who never really left the place. The three find unity in a common purpose when they learn that the camp needs saving.
We were kidding about the An American Werewolf in London part, by the way.
The three stars are Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart, both of whom live in Brooklyn, and Mamrie Hart. All three have their own followings by way of their own YouTube channels.
The three are using the Brooklyn-based platform for selling video content online, VHX, to distribute the film. There is still no definite release date, but the latest welcome message on the movie’s site says it will be early 2014.

Helbig released this update shortly after the movie wrapped, where she checks in with various people who helped to make it on set in order see what they’ve been up to since filming ended (parental guidance is advised):
