When coworking space The Yard announced new locations in Gowanus and Philadelphia, it teased further expansion into a number of new cities.
Well, it’s already making good on that promise: it’s opening its first location in D.C. next fall. Our sister site Technical.ly DC has the details on how cofounder Morris Levy and his team chose its new space there.
Part of The Yard’s rationale for its southeast D.C. location was the residential proximity, Levy said. There’s been a similar trend in Brooklyn, as several spaces, including Coworkrs‘ Gowanus location and BKLYN Commons, have built their locations with nearby workers in mind — those who can easily walk home rather than taking a long commute. That’s the direction in which coworking is headed, Levy said.
“Today, the work cycle of a day isn’t really 9-to-5,” he said.
