The School District of Philadelphia recently released “School Finder,” a web tool that allows you to identify your neighborhood’s designated school, the Public School Notebook reported last week. But the big victory, says the Notebook’s web editor Erika Owens, is that the School District converted and compiled all this catchment data from inaccessible PDFs into an easily searchable map.
For a long time, this information has languished in PDFs on each school’s individual profile page on the District’s website. Now you can easily search by location and find out what schools serve that address, rather than needing to know the school first. The site even prompts you to share your location to make it easier to get started navigating the map. [more]
