Super secure messaging app Tunnel X raises $350k [Startup Roundup]

New secure messaging startup, the Flatiron School and media coverage of local funding rounds reported on by Startup Roundup.

Who’s getting money?

Tunnel X raised $350,000 on an offered $450,000 debt round, according to an SEC filing. The company is creating a secure messaging system that, interestingly, uses an image on your cell phone for encryption. Check out this man-on-the-street video they did around their concept one wintry lunch hour in Dumbo:

Flatiron School raised a $5.5 million Series A round. We covered its Brooklyn project.

Who’s getting buzz?

CommonBond’s $100 Million funding round gets a focus from HuffPo. We wrote about the round in September and followed it with a Q&A with the CEO, David Klein.

GREATS, the sneaker company, had its $1.3 million investment round covered by Crain’s. We reported on the SEC filing last month. The Crain’s story reports $1.5 million but their SEC filing is for $1,268,294.
