Who’s getting money?

Flipsicle raised $2 million in angel funding while in pre-launch mode, according to The India Times. The company’s main product is Flittr, out now on iOS and soon on Android, where users can ask questions in text and get answers in images. The project is backed by Neeraj Arora, of WhatsApp. Flipsicle operates from a coworking space in South Slope.

Who’s making moves?

VHX built a hack into their video-gifting feature that lets you delay the gift until Christmas. Check out their new gifting guide teaser so you can say you read it where it first showed up before it ends up in 2014’s Best American Poetry.

Who’s getting buzz?

Toymail, the company that makes an interactive messaging device for young children, won a $25,000 prize in Cisco’s Internet Of Things Innovation Grand Challenge in October. We covered the company in late 2013.

Amanda Parkes, of Manufacture NY, gets big picture on wearable tech and fashion with the Business of Fashion. We spoke to Parkes earlier this year. She argues that wearables aren’t going to go big until they put fashion first, and the tech companies will probably never get there.

Companies: Manufacture New York / Toymail / VHX
