Last year, the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective received 60 applications for five spots in the organization. The group meets weekly to discuss each other’s work, requires a $5 application fee and $50 in per season membership dues.

The BFC consists of some of Brooklyn’s most accomplished and promising emerging filmmakers. Collectively we have produced work for the Sundance Film Festival, SXSW, Slamdance Film Festival, A&E, PBS, HBO, IFC, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, MTV, France 3, The Smithsonian, and Al Jazeera. Our members have received awards from Sundance, Independent Spirit Awards, Student Academy Awards, HBO New York International Latin Film Festival, and IFP and has had work nominated for the national Academy Awards.

The group has dozens of trailers and short films by its members posted on its site. This one is about a young woman who begins exchanging gifts with her postman, by filmmaker Danielle Lurie.
