Graybill, a freelance web developer, wanted to be able find tacos — wherever and whenever in Philly — and he knew he wasn’t the only one. That’s why he built Tacodelphia, a new location-based web app that lets Philadelphians easily find the grub.

Find tacos HERE.

The map breaks the taco joints down by type (sit-down place, food truck, etc.) and it even lists taco nights in the city.

Graybill, who lives in Center City and works nearby at software consultancy firm NeomindLabs, says he’s been to 30 or 40 of the 115 taco spots available on Tacodelphia. He found the rest through referrals and food blogs, which he says he reads obsessively.

His friend Rob Marshbank designed the really cute taco dude, and Graybill says he consulted friends Roz Duffy, Reed Lauber and Steve Hurwitz on the site. Other than that, he designed and coded it on his own.

It took him about four months to get the current version of the site up. There was a previous iteration of the site online that Graybill says he “let die,” but he picked it back up again when Redditers found it a few months ago.

He doesn’t have plans to monetize the site. That would take the fun out of it, he says.

As for his favorite taco spot? Well, Graybill says, that’s classified.
