MyGrove’s social publishing venture // Ringly soft launches [Startup Roundup]

Mercando's Ringly softly launches, while My Grove media secures more debt and Brooklyn Kombucha seeks investors.

Who’s getting money?

Pre-launch, downtown’s MyGrove Media secured $180,000 in debt of an offered $500,000, according to an SEC filing that amends a filing of the previous October. The company was founded by former journalist, Spencer Morgan, and former publishing executive, Mitch Fox, according to its Facebook page. From that page: “MyGrove Media provides a space for those that have a talent or a love. On this digital platform users can post, share and meet other like-minded and passionate individuals.”

Williamsburg Kombucha maker and supplier, East Coast Cultures LLC, is offering $780,000 in equity, but has yet to sell any of it, according to an SEC filing. It secured $120,000 in an offered $400,000 in debt last month.

Who’s making moves?

Ringly, founded by Ebay alum Christina Mercando, has moved its site out of the “coming soon” phase. It has revealed that it will be making jewelry that delivers alerts about your electronic communications (we had speculated), and estimates that it will begin shipping next Spring. The site shows three team members: two co-founders and an electrical engineer. Ringly was featured in our first Startup Roundup. Her cofounder, Logan Munro, is a Mechanical Engineer and MIT alum.
