We know it all too well here at Technically Philly. Jobs are sparse and all that sittin’ around gets you to thinking: What if you took your talents, your Rolodex and that unemployment check and started your own business?
The The Empowerment Group‘s Entrepreneurship Week—running all week long—is chock-full of 13 events to learn about starting or super-powering your business. And every last minute of it is free.

On Monday, learn about funding with a panel of bank owners, micro-lenders and creative financiers. 6:30 p.m. South Philadelphia. RSVP.
Tuesday, experts will explain how to certify as a minority or woman-owned business from the City and Small Business Association. 12:00 p.m. Washington Square West. RSVP. Later, discuss marketing strategies with specialists. 5:00 p.m. Rittenhouse. RSVP.
Thinking of making your business green? Don’t miss Wednesday‘s Ecopreneur strategy breakfast. 7:30 a.m. Center City. RSVP. Mingle with Philadelphia’s business elite that evening, when World Café Live owner Hal Real and other important Philadelphia biz owners share their secrets. 5:00 p.m. University City. RSVP.
On Thursday, you won’t get a chance to catch your breath. There’s the Small Business Resource Fair. If you missed Monday’s capital discussion, don’t miss a second presentation on access to capital. It’s complicated, but let experienced entrepreneurs educate you on the basics on City licensing. And last, the 101-guide to starting a business. All that and more at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Old City.
On Friday, you youngins should consider attending the presentation on being young entrepreneurs in this great big city. We’ll try to be there so we can finally figure out what the heck we’re doing. 9:00 a.m. Logan Circle. RSVP. And last on Friday, there’s the Women Entrepreneurs’ Circle, with the owners of Fishtown’s Sketch Burger and Shake Joint, for all aspiring women entrepreneurs. 6:30 p.m. Fishtown. RSVP.
