Sean Carton, director of the University of Baltimore’s Center for Digital Communication, Commerce and Culture, has been named “as the first holder of the Bob ‘GoDaddy’ Parsons Professorship of Digital Communication, Commerce and Culture in UB’s Merrick School of Business,” according to a release from the Mount Vernon-based university.

The professorship in digital communication was made possibly by GoDaddy founder, Bob Parsons, himself a 1975 University of Baltimore graduate and Highlandtown native. Parsons donated $1 million to UB in June specifically for this professorship. He “plans to deliver some lectures himself, both in person and online … and envisions courses … focusing on everything from online marketing to etiquette in the digital realm,” according to the Baltimore Sun.
According to the Sun‘s BaltTech blog, Carton “has been in the digital creative scene in Baltimore and the Mid-Atlantic region for years.” The UB press release said that Carton will remain as director of the Center for Digital Communication.
